Spending the Big Bucks

How often are you purchasing ebooks, strategy guides and software to build you IM business? Are you depleting your checking account as you search for the ideal internet money plan? Do you find yourself hitting the BUY NOW button day after day, believing that you’re about to find the missing link in your moneymaking chain?

You’re not the only one convinced that the only way to make money involves spending it in copious quantities. Far too many Internet marketers are doing the exact same thing.

Those spending habits have a logical appeal. It makes perfect sense to purchase new information and products to keep your business rolling right along. There’s nothing crazy about acquiring new information and products in order to stay abreast of changes in the business. Spending that money when you’re struggling is a different story.

There’s a significant difference between trying to stay on the cutting edge and gambling on every possible tool in hopes of making a business work.

You want to be the smart investor. You don’t want to be the person who’s spent $40,000 on IM products and still isn’t making regular sales.

Making Smart Purchases

How can you avoid dumping too much cash into things you don’t really need? It starts by building a rock-solid foundation. If you look at the core of Internet marketing, it’s really rather simple.

You need to have something to sell. You need a way to sell it. You need to secure traffic to the website you’ll be using to generate sales.

That’s IM in a nutshell. All of your efforts should relate to one of those basic needs.

So, you must work to create a strong presence on all three of those fronts. Anything you buy as you’re building your business needs to address the construction of that foundation.

You must have a foundation that let’s you make money from home before you invest in extras, details, tricks or adjustments. When you have a foundation in place, you will make money. Then you can start experimenting with new ideas and products.

Smart Foundation Building

You can start building that money making foundation without going broke in the process. Here’s what you need to do.

  • Get a smart, big picture understanding of Internet marketing. You need to hear, straight from the proverbial horse’s mouth, how things fit together and what really works.
  • Focus on ways to boost traffic. Traffic is one of the three core needs mentioned above. It’s also the most important one you’ll address. Until you have adequate traffic, you won’t be able to find out if your products are attractive or if your copy is converting. You need to get people to your site as soon as possible.
  • Find a source of ongoing assistance. An ebook can be great. Solid tutorial videos are a great idea. However, you’ll find more value in cultivating a good relationship with an experienced, successful IMer. Quality ongoing coaching makes the learning curve less steep and prevents you from wasting time, energy and resources on things you don’t need.
  • Manage your risk. You want to meet your objectives without risking significant losses. Avoid overspending on the tools and information you need to build your business. Look for a business coaching program or mentoring arrangement that doesn’t cost more than you can afford.
